Thanks to two brothers from Mesa, ProAutoSports is helping to reinvigorate racing in the Grand Canyon State. See how and why this weekend at the Podium Club.
On Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 3-4, ProAutoSports Track Days visits the quickly-growing-in-popularity Podium Club 2.32-mile road course near Casa Grande, just south of Phoenix.
There will be racing among small and big-bore sports cars, formula cars, karts, and street cars. All because back in 2006, Dylan and Hurley Hatch saw an opportunity and decided to run with it.
“Our family friends Larry and Vicki Pond started ProAuto in 1992 and did a great job,” said Dylan Hatch. “Then, in 2006, my brother and I decided we needed to try and take it to the next level, so we took over the operation. 18 years later, we’re happy where we are, but we’re not nearly finished.”
Now over 2,500 members strong, ProAutoSports runs events at tracks in Arizona, California, and New Mexico each year. Each event has something for drivers at all levels, including their acclaimed New Member Orientation Class, Performance and Defensive Driving Program, and full Road Racing Program.
“Our timing was good,” said Hatch, “because we adapted to the changing landscape of the automotive world. Back then our field was mostly real race cars but since the technology of high performance street cars has grown so much, now we’re closer to 60% stock sports cars and 40% race cars.”
“We provide a safe, fun environment for people with all different skill levels,” he added. “Track days with us mean a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere that still thrives on the thrill of competition.”
ProAutoSports never charges admission for spectators, although they do have volunteers who accept donations for Team Transplant Arizona, a team made up of athletes who are organ recipients, living donors and donor families who represent Arizona at the Transplant Games of America and World Games.
