The Podium Club at Attesa will host Rounds 1 and 2 of the 2024 Lois Petersen Memorial SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) Saguaro Series, including DE (Driver Education) groups both days.
“We were approved as an SCCA track in July and this will be our second event,” said Dan Erickson, Managing Partner. “Drivers can now get their competition licenses here via the Podium Club Academy, but a lot of high performance car owners have never even been on track. This event is an opportunity for them to come out and see if they might like racing, and how to drive at speed.”
Drivers with roadworthy street cars are welcome to register and participate in the DE group, where no additional safety equipment is required on the cars to run. The SCCA will inspect all vehicles for safety, and drivers are required to wear an approved helmet. If drivers don't have a helmet, the Podium Club has a limited amount of rental helmets available.
“There are so many cars that never come close to running at their limits,” said John Mabry, Podium Club General Manager. “Drivers can’t do that on the street or freeways, that’s what tracks like ours are for. If someone wants to see if they might like racing, this is their chance.”
Click here to register, now though Jan. 10.
The two day event will also feature the first two rounds of the RUSH International Winter Series, contested over two weekends at the Podium Club during January. The two doubleheader events will host the largest group yet of RUSH SRs battling for the championship over four heat races and four final events. Rounds 3 & 4 will be Jan. 27-28 and organized by NASA (National Auto Sports Association), AZ. A $10,000 purse is available to series participants.
RUSH SR racing is the fastest growing spec series in America. The $39K open cockpit sports racers boast 145 hp, weigh 1130 lbs. and go 0-60 in 3.3 seconds. They are professionally engineered for safety, reliability, and uniquely affordable fun.
